As some of you may know, SJBMW has decided to seriously race both the R1200S and the K1200 Power Cup bike this year. Rember that San Jose BMW won the last Boxer Cup race held at Daytona and came in second over all in the last Boxer Cup series, they came in second over all in the last Power Cup series as well, both with Brian Pariott riding. San Jose BMW when Chris was the service mgr. and I was still the owner won the last AMA Super Bike race that a BMW was ever entered in, Louden, NH, in 1978. Chris has taken the R1200S that I spent 3 days on a while back and has turned it into a serious contender. Yesterday, Friday, they spent all day at Thunder Hills raceway in Northern California practcing with both bikes..

This is the R bike when I road it.

The bike now has all new race body work and is producing RWHP's in the 120's from the 110 when I road it. Chris likes to slowly and carefully enhance both the handling and the power of his race bikes.

Some pics of the bike now.

The K1200R Power Cup bike will also have the same race body work and we are seeing RWHP's in the 170 range.........................so far

Sunday they will race both bikes at Thunder Hill and the next races will be at Sears Point, ie Infernon or however you might spell it.

Could it be any more fun than this......................:eusa_clap:

Great news Dean. It would be great to see some video from Thunder Hill. Do you know if the bikes run over the hill or if they bypass it?? Its bad enough going over that hill and into the blind right hander in a car, can't imagine doing that on a bike.

Harry, don't have a clue, all I know is that Chris says it is a HP track, fast that is.

Just found some video of Thunderhill on their website. There are two videos, one in a car and one on a bike, both narrarated. We managed to launch the Viper off the track between turns 9 and 10 and started a nice little fire in the tall grass.

Sure... If somebody like Teri Polo was the rider and rode in see-thru leathers, was as fast as Brian Pariott, and she insisted on having sex with the entire crew whenever the team won.

But seriously, Dean...

Chris didn't just happen to have picked the number "46" because a certain world champion uses that number, would he??? :037:

Cheers!

Allan (Dallara - NAABSCD)

Dean-O!
Maybe we could get a "Motorcyclist Cafe" sponsor sticker on there!
Well, I mean if we had any stickers.
And any sponsor/supporter money...

Dean, are they racing the R1200S with the stock vertical two-holer muffler?

I recall recently reading that N8 Kern was turning faster times with his new boxercup bike than the powercup. Is this also true with Brian?

I sure would like to see one of these MGs in the fray as well:
(notice it's liquid cooled)

Rich, not exactly. Chris has secrets with both bikes that N8 does not have...................

Here are some pics of the new Magnesium wheels that weigh 1/2 of the stock wheels, the rear is 6 1/2 lbs lighter, the front a similar weight reduction. Chris is slowly creating his own exhaust system, each small change results in a dyno run. Also is resculpturing the rear of the bike.

I think I mentioned to you guys, that I was bringing my R1150R for its 12K service at SJBMW... and, was very fortunate to have Will work on my bike, and chat for a bit. To say that my bike has never run better, would be an understatement!!

Also, had a chance to see the current stage of development of the race bike, and lift those magnesium wheels that Dean is showing... man they are feather light!

What a great operation SJBMW is, and how fortunate I am to be near by it.

I forgot to mention that our own Ed K has ridden the same R1200S bike as well.

Do you think that Ed enjoyed himself?

Man did I Dean...what a fantastic machine (even the stock) R1200S is!!! Enjoyed myself? Liked it? (Not having the talent for word of WW) I was more like Speechless!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that I took the K1200R for a 30 minute spin today at SJBMW... well, spin is not exactly the right word... maybe more like rip... But not to side track this thread... I'll post comparative impressions of the K1200R with R1200S on a new thread...
