Here's a link to an article in an SA newspaper about the new Yamaha Fazer :
http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=3076944

I LOOOOVVVE the naked FZ1 model !! The exhaust looks very similar to the "alleged" new BMW R1200R in DJ's thread and the whole bike really has a mean look about it. I could imagine myself on the FZ1 quite easily !!

Sorry...I tried to insert the picture of the FZ1 from the article directly into my initial post but it seems to have come across as just the URL. Not sure why - can someone insert the photo for me (and can someone explain what I did wrong) ?

Thanks.

To post your pic you need to do this.

Copy the URL address...and in the post reply/comment box (just above) is a Little box (5 from the right)..it looks like a pic of a mountain with a sun in the sky...click on that and it opens a bigger box in the top left were you paste the URL.

The URL will look like this ...http://vne-resource.iol.co.za/30/picdb/b/c/70516.... ..(I put the ... to stop it working)

OK

I just love it when you guys talk dirty. Naked and then posting naked things.

By the by, the bike looks so good it should be illegal. Not that I want to hurt anyone's feeling, I think it looks better than the naked BMW K-Bike. I love my R bike and there is nothing wrong with it that another 50 horsepower couldn't cure.

The headlight makes the bike look like it belongs to a Superhero.

I don't believe the US will be seeing the fully naked FZ-1 here. The FZ-1s are supposed to arrive in stealerships here in the next month or so.
Ours will look like this... http://photos.motorcycle-usa.com/839-33-h.jpg

The bike is gorgeous - I could never own one - my license would be revoked.....

For those considering this bike, I suggest getting a good attorney on retainer. You will need one if you have any hopes of keeping your license.

I have the "old" FZ1 ('05 model, now with 5,200 miles on it) that "only" makes 140 hp at the crank. I am quite certain that I have NO idea what anyone could ever do with the many extra horsepower the new one makes in street riding. Mine is very comfortable, ridable, but just ridiculously over powered. It is also for sale, in case anyone is interested.

The new ones are pretty though, aren't they. And it now looks like the Japanese are not the only ones who are producing bikes with insane amounts of power, given the new K bikes from BMW.

If anyone can figure out what you do with that much hp delivered by an inline 4 on the street, please contact me. I need to be educated.

Great bike... Neat looking... But...

That Muffler! Geez, that has to be the ugliest muffler to ever get past the design phase! It makes the front end of a BMW R1200ST look positively beautiful...

Love the new FZ-1, but if I had one the muffler would be the first to go.

Cheers!

In America, the "Fazer" model is called "FZ1", and the Eurpean FZ1 model doesn't come to the US. We get the short stick again. The dual-headlight fairing model is the only one that will make it to US shores in 2006.

We get the short stick again.

Agreed.
Apparently about 50% of the street bikes sold in the US are cruisers. A huge portion of those are Harley Davidson.

I would like to know more about the non-cruiser market, but based on my looking around while in the US, I would have to guess that sportbikes make up the next largest sector.

At the end of the day, non-faired standards like the FZ-1 or even my MT-01 wouldn't have much of a target audience and manufacturers don't invest much if the market isn't there to support it.

Personally, I hate fairings and I don't want a bike with a faring. I might change my mind as I get older, but I simply don't like them. Current non-faired liter+ bikes int eh US don't offer a wide variety. Even the K1200R is not totally naked with that fairing mounted headlight arrangement.

That naked FZ-1 is really cool. I really love my MT. Honda makes a really nice looking CB1300 that is the pinnacle of UJM function. I think American riders would buy these bikes IF a) They were priced right, and b) If people had good opportunities to test them.

Thanks for the attaching photo info DJ but I could have sworn that's what I did. Let me try again following your instructions to a tee (the new Kawa 600) :

Yip DJ, the mountain with the sun was clicked on, I got the [IMG] at the front and at the back end of the URL (http//.......) but when I submit all it gives is the URL/address. I'm confused.

Anyway, not too serious. I'll keep trying every now and again. It could be the Nigerian factor - it would fit in with everything else here.........nothing ever works properly or goes smoothly !!

Thanks for the help anyway.

Gary - some sites won't let you link, even if you do everytihing correctly. Tey inserting a picture from another site and make sure the feature works. WOu can always publish the picture to a web service like Smugmug and then link to it.

Allan - That is indeed an unusual muffler, but I think the one in the spy pics of the R1200S is much uglier!

Gary, open your article, then put your cursor on the pic that you want to display, right click, move cursor down to properties, left click, move cursor to the address in the new window, copy address, then go back to your post click the pic icon paste address in the box, click OK and your done. What you had done was to paste the address of the page, not just the pic.

Dean O, thanks so much for your infinite and unquestionable wisdom !!

I'm absolutely over the moon (okay maybe that's going a bit far and it sounds very pansy and, along with my subject line at the top, you guys may start to question my leanings, although there's nothing wrong with being gay.....is there Bob ???!!) - this is the first time I have ever been able to post a picture (either here or on Doug's site). I now know what I was doing wrong all along.

Thanks again Dean - it's like I've got another new toy !! :D
