Hey, Folks...

I don't know how many of you remember this, but not too long ago our own Darthrider's Norton Commando was featured in "Cycle World" magazine. Quite a nice article written about it and Darth.

Well, he's at it again, only this time it's not just his Norton in on the deal. Darthrider is, too!

Grab yourself a copy of "Motorcycle Escape" (a publication from the same people who bring you "Motorcyclist" and other fine motorcycle publications), Volume II, Issue III, Winter 2005. Now this magazine is published quarterly with tons of great articles about different journeys on bikes. This particular one has a Buell Ulysses going down a dirt road from a rider's point of view (you see the top of the tank, handlebars, instrument cluster, etc.) and has a main headline of "Best Rides! Great Smoky Mountains".

Now the issue itself is well worth the cover price, but the bonus is the back cover...

Right there, dead center, is Darthrider's ultra-trick Norton Commando with Dave (Darthrider) standing next ot it and looking down at the bike. He's dressed all in black and has a wool watch cap on, with Harley's and Harley riders on either side of him...

The picture is an ad for "River Road" riding apparel from the company that Dave works for - Biker's Chioce - which is a division of Tucker-Rocky Distributing.

So, as I said, our own Darthrider is famous once again! Cool, Dave!

How about it, Darth? What's the story on the ad, and where was the picture taken?

Cheers!

Ummmm...yeah, that FirstGear ad is running in, and will repeat in a number of moto mags, most of the Hardley Ableson persuation.
It was shot in Grandbury, TX and was actually for a River Road (black leather cruiser gear) photo shoot for 2 new RR catalogs...the Norton in is that one several places.
And on the cover of our new FirstGear calendar.
Funny thing...in the several pics with the Nort I have my back turned and my boss is facing the camera...he rides a big black Harley bagger! All I can figure is that our art department, knowing full well where there bread is buttered, chose the VP's face over mine. Yeah, that must be it...surely they know I am much more handsome than him!

Guess who had the only Arai on the shoot?

Now, if I could just find someone to take this pig off my hands...

Dave...

Regarding the Norton... Is the re-hab done yet?

I'm trying to close a deal on a new trailer this next week. Needed to get that done first and foremost.

Have you gotten the Norton damn near where it'll start with your hand? I gotta' be careful given I'll have a new hip pretty soon (though thanks to some new drugs they are giving me I may be able to stave that operation off a bit longer - better living through chemistry!).

Man, that is one pretty, pretty, damn gorgeous, incredibly beautiful, stunning motorsicle! :love:

Cheers!

Allan -
The re-hab is coming...slowly. This job just gets in the way of all kinds of things. And this is my 3 weekends out of 5 out of town stretch...sales meeting, Cincy V-Twin Expo and Indy Dealer Show.
Excuses, excuses, excuses...

"...Man, that is one pretty, pretty, damn gorgeous, incredibly beautiful, stunning motorsicle!..."
Runs pretty good too, HEE, HEE...

When it's ready, Darth...

Or at least when you think it's ready as it can be for a ham-fisted, old, blind guy like me you let me know. I have got things caught a bit better down here now, and Mom got a good report from this last set of look-see's so that's a weight off, too. I can probably spare a weekend up there as long it's not in mid to late March or in late April. Will know the first week in February when then want to do the bionic man shot to my right leg, too. I need at least a month re-hab off bikes after that cut-n-paste job.

This damn trailer is in Houston, so I have to set aside a day to go and get it. I want to haul in back here and make sure it is all correct, too, before hauling it up to Dallas.

Okay, time for bed so I can get up and sell some cars tomorrow to pay for all these damn motorsicles!!! :omg:

Cheers!

Christmas eve and I'm alookin' in my stockin'........ and what do I spy? Why........ it's a Motor Mag, Holy Moly. And what is the title? Motorcycle Escape. Could not wait, made a quick read and turned it over on the back and there he was in all his Splendor, our Darthrider. Actually, I thought I'd seen the bike before, then I started asking myself if that was Darth. Thanks for confirmation guys. I'm nominating my bride for wife of the Cosmos. How did she know???????:confused:

Soooooooooooo much! I'm gonna start emailing my buddies to see if we can't form a consortium to buy it and bring it home to England. Where it belongs. Right here in Sussex. In my shed. In my life, damnit!

Congrats..........

Bro Dave, why don't you for the folks here give a rundown of what all has been done to your Snortin Norton.

A good pic of the bike, in any case.

That's right;

Dave ain't Geezer,
And he don't ride no Beezer.

He goes 'round town a slidin' and a snortin',
Cuz' our Buddy Dave rides a Bad-Ass Norton!

He's gots lots and lots of bikes worth tons and tons of bread;
But he don't act snooty cuz' he's the Number One Peckerhead!

He's gets 'em all sideways and backs 'em all in,
But's that's only cuz' he rides just fast as sin!

He goes his own way and don't follow no trend;
But best of all is he's a good friend!

Cheers!

I had a real cool 1943 BSA M20 Brit warbike. Not mint but as close as a "veteran" could be. All correct parts & equipment and ran good.
I was really proud of that bike but had to sell it when I crashed my nearly new but uninsured 50R 4 1/2 years ago.
It was the same "age" as me and I once told Miz Betty I thought that was cool.
She said what was really cool is that an old bike can be restored...

This pic is priceless. The last time Mz Pam and I spent the night at Darths house, the city of Hooterville was installing this sign infront of Daves house. DJ must of found a pic as soon as they finished. Notice Dave with out his leathers..............but with his Depends.
