There's a thread over at ADVRIDER showing a disintegrated rod out of Nate Kern's K1200R race bike - here's a teaser:

and a full link to the thread:

I remember this race track very fondly, because it is the locus of my initial high-performance driving training, and several subsequent courses. As a young buck out of college, my Gov sent me up there to do all manner of things related to driving cars and killing/avoiding terrorists. We shot out of moving vehicles, rammed burring roadblocks, executed high speed motorcades on the track, did "PIT" maneuvers (which we called "tactical ramming") - ah it was such a fun time. Weekends we would see the motorcycle racers out there - looked rather civilized compared to the stuff we were doing.

Anyway - enjoy the link.

Yeah - especially when you consider that the track has several straight portions including two long straights - you would think the higher top end on the K-bike would gve him better lap times. I remember the K12R even gave my R1 a little friendly competition the one time I ran against one (that was on a short -technical track, Firebird West) The R bike must be an absolute screamer in the corners.
