I'm getting pretty fed up with our friends at SpeedTV. Last Tuesday it was abruptly announced at the beginning of TwoWheel Tuesday that it was the final show. Not final show of the season, just final. No explanation exists that I know of and, even though I wasn't that enamored of Greg White's hosting abilities, I really did like the brief recap of the AMA and MotoGP races. Wha' happened? Anyone here know what went down? Now there's Michelle Smith and the Corbin commercial and Build or Bust. But no general motorcycling show.

Oh Ron, if you're pissed now I suspect their new offering may just push you over the edge.

I happened to catch "Super Bikes" last night by mistake and all it made me feel was WTF! :104:
Jeez...talk about BS programming.

Add SpeedTV's quote --“Super Bikes!” delivers the kick that today’s motorcycle industry and consumer will embrace."
Add that to the inccessant babbling of the NASCAR entertainment industry, the mindless commentators who know what the motorcycle industry, you and I really want!

I've seen the " SuperBike" promos, jeez, what BS. Now all of the sportbiker morons( not all who ride sportbikes are morons, I'm refering to the ones who will say " I used to ride until I crashed") will only be encouraged to act like..well..morons.
How about a Sporttouring show, or an Adventure touring show? Oh wait, we are such a small market we don't get ratings so we don't attract advertising dollars.
No more Speed channel for me. I'm not a NASCAR fan, and the bike build show is trashy.
I think I'll start a subscription to the MotoGP website and watch it there.

I gave up on Two Wheel Tuesday last season. Now that the squids have been added I won't even troll through the channel anymore. If it weren't for SBK and MotoGP I would never check the channel.

Ah, yes...Super Bike...Trolling for the lowest common denominator for sure. Cruisers, squids, and building that dream rigid custom. Who could ask for more, really?
I 'member when Dave DeSpain was involved in the motorcycle bits of Speed Vision and there was a great mix of different motoapproaches. No more. I guess I've grown out of their demographic. Don't want no circle racing on four wheels. Don't particularly care about the open wheeled stuff, if it is four open wheels. Love the MotoGP, but having it interlaced with commercials at the most inoppertune times is a bit of a drag.
I imagine that their motocycle offerings are independently funded and produced. I'd love to know what it would take to do a real motorcycle show, like an hour. I think we could follow a couple of characters from this board around with a camera for a day or two and come up with something interesting...

It seems like the only sponsers they can find all make shiny chrome bolt-on parts like air cleaners, foot boards, and brake caliper covers.

SpeedTV has a "leave a comment" page. I told 'em what I though of their new show "SuperSquids."

I gave up on TWT a couple of years ago. SpeedTV lost me when they lost the rights to cover the Paris Dakar Rally. All of SpeedTv's secondary programming are all infomercials that I won't watch. The 15 second snips that they called race highlights were a waste. Watching a couple of bikes go through a corner or cross a finish line does not suffice as race highlights for me.
It's a business and they are chasing the $'s catering to the Lifestylers leaving us old sportsmen behind. I just hope it will create an opportunity for someone else to bring back CycleWorld type coverage back to the market.
Best wishes to SpeedTv: :098: Bill :098:

I vote for "menace".
I stumbled on to "Superbikes" last Wednesday evening down in Daytona. I just can't imagine civilian types seeing that crap and thinking that this is what motorcycling is all about.
Godspeed my ass.

Superbikes really highlights all the negative stereotypes of our sport - too bad.
BTW - as an aside, I was at a track day last year and Greg "Great" White showed up - he actually put on the leathers and got out on an R1 which the sponsors use as a rental bike and he turned some very respectable lap times - I was on the track at the time and the guy can definitely talk the talk and walk the walk.

Nope Deej - Greg White, the bald-headed presenter on Speed Channel, probably just in our domestic market.
