I was tempted by something a bit more..dare I say....perky..:110:
Although it's the middle of our Winter..today was a perfect day to cheat on my BMW Roadster..and taste a younger naked Italian...the new Guzzi Griso.
I took pics...and here they are.

Good lord, DJ! How do you manage it? By that I mean....convince the dealer to let you test ride the bike? Over here, most dealers moan and groan even when they're convinced you're a serious buyer.
Another thing.......how cold does it get there in Oz during winter? Any snow?
Beautiful bike and great report btw.

They talked me into a test ride...and insisted I take it for at least a couple of hours.
I thought..geees..if I have to...oh..ok then..:icon_mrgreen: ..I used up a tank of fuel and took it back and said I'd think about it...they were cool.
That lookout (Sky High) http://members.optusnet.com.au/~djp1/mypic2505.JPG might get snow once a year...when I say snow..really just a dusting..nothing more.
Some times it gets so cold I have to turn my heated grips on...:icon_biggrin:

Yeah, Deej. Nice pics as usual. And a very pretty bike as well. You should write up a more extensive ride report. Not that I'd buy one either.... I guess. But then....

Can you take the muffler off though?:)
How many $ and what is fully comp insurance worth @ Shannons?
Nice day for a spin today. You should've dropped by!
Promethean, snow in Melbourne does happen, but rarely. Snow on that small hill DJ went up happens more often. It's only 45ks from the CBD, and the whole metro area sprawls out beneath it. It's quite a view on a clear day.
More snow falls regularly another 30 minutes east.

DJ,
You call that winter? I want to move there, NOW. Great pics. Pretty bike. I have never ridden a Guzzi, but lots of folks rave about them. Similar power delivery as the flat twin I am guessing? Thanks for the report and pics.

Great pics, DJ, but wht is there no pic of you staring through the wishing tree at the bike? Or is that too much to ask for?

I've owned two Aprilias, a Falco and a Caponord. There is SOMETHING about Italian bikes that makes them more like a mistress and less like a motorcycle. Could be the costs involved...but the ride was always worth it. :058:
I'm looking forward to owning another Italian bike one of these days. Would love to test ride the Griso but the doofus dealer in these parts doesn't even like you to sit on the bikes let along test ride one. Just pay him full list+ and get out.

Fun ride and great pics... thanks for posting.
From reading about this bike I recall its actually got a bit less power than the R1150R, but approximately the weight (?).
Also, was supposed to have some drive train slap that you can hear at slow speeds (?). But, if that occurred, it does not sound like it affected your impressions much!

Yes there was an annoying train slap...that and the big ugly stock exhaust were the only things that bugged me about the Griso.
The shop was quick to fit a Staintune on before it frightened customers away...and what a sound..:eusa_clap:

As always DJ. Lovely looking piece, that Griso.
My local Guzzi dealer is the most delightful chap. Roberto Ignolli. As Italian as spaghetti he has "contacts" back home in Italy that guarantee his customers are never left wanting for anything.
He INSISTS on test rides..... "You're gonna luvva theesa bike" and "You ride theesa bike a hundred yards and it feela though you've beena riding it for ever, eesa so comfy an' natural"
The walls of his south London shop are lined with rare and exotic old Italiana.
The first Moto-Guzzi (a small 2 stroke) a Moto Parillia racer. It's simply impossible to spend any time in his company and not have his warmth and enthusiasm rub off on you. Even a little.
Maybe I should pay him another visit soon.........
Cheers,
Si.
