Sorry to dissapoint you all - it's not a Goggomobil!

It's a Porsche Cayenne S.

Very nice, I couldn't be happier.

So you gonna take it out for some serious off-roading? It's very capable. Put some nice "Arizona pins stripes" on that puppy!

It is very capable off road. I only had my VW Touareg seriously off road once and I got it stuck on a very challenging wet hillside on a Friend's property in West Virginia.

No - the Porsche, with all-weather 18-inch Pirelli Scorpions, will be a street car. The running train is set up 60/40 rear to front power distribution - much more of a street setup than the Touareg was at 50/50. I do have a class 3 hitch and towing package and plan to do some track days up at Summit Point - my son and I are already thinking track bike......

As for the pin stripes I am not sure - first accessory will be a Grateful Dead sticker - as soon as I find the right one!

Hey Rog - I may actually drive the new car back in August - not sure yet. I just closed a deal on 2 acres of land and a house in Great Falls, VA today, so I will be here a lot over the next year, at least.

I have a working title of "Kriegspielwagen" for the car, but the jury is still out. That car is super sweet, 340 HP V8, air suspension, etc, etc, - gives me a woody!

Here are some more pics from this afternoon in McLean, VA:

Gumball Rally Time!!!!!!!
I'll fly to VA and we'll haul ass across the country, VA to AZ 24Hrs or less.
If we average 120 we'll make it.:037: :037:
Of course we'll need a bail fund.

Very nice, Bob. At a "Rennsport Reunion" at Daytona a couple years back, I got to drive one on an infield off-road course they had set up to show off it's capabilities. At one point on the course you got to balance the car on it's front left and right rear wheels. The neat show-off part was that the frame is so stiff, you could still open and close the doors. I was impressed.

George -

Torsional rigidity is one of the strenths of the car - it comes at a cost in terms of weight, however compared to my old Touareg, Porsche has really trimmed quite a bit of weight off the body. The other thing that rigidity does is really almost eliminate any sway or roll in cornering, making the vehicle feel more sports car than SUV. It is quite sweet....

Poor poor Touareg, jilted for her fancier step sister. I'm guessing you had someone else drive her down for the trade in, no way you could have faced her knowing what you were about to do.

Sure is purty tho.....

It was tough, Harry. I told her I was taking her in for a car wash...
