Now that there is a site for those of us who don't mind language, great pics, and calling someone an asshole when they're an asshole...i was wonderin'.....

Are people using the other board for more 'technical' issues and posts and this site more of a 'free zone'?

Just wait till people start posting replies to questions on r1150r.org with a link to a thread on this site.

Seems in the past 1.5 weeks since I first logged onto the site, the traffic has increased substantially.

Nice to see the initiative from those involved. Psyched to have a site that will allow me to be the derelict I really am.

So when's the first kegger? :cocktail:

Scotty,

Using the "other site" for thechnical issues?
There some fearsome members here with techincal bike experience second to none - years and years (decades and decades ) of racing, wrenching, speed record riding, procurement, you name it experience from all over the world and on all sorts of makes. Just that most here have been there, done that, already.

I am sure that if one has a need, there will be willing responses coming at one from all sides.

Now, as for calling us derelects, your welcome and at home!

Enjoy!

It seems this site isn't focused directly at a certain bike, as is the old place, so no "common experience" is taken for granted here, other than the fact that we are not necessarily "motorcycle people", but men & women (& DJ) that live, eat, breathe, sleep, dream, and RIDE them. I imagine there is more technical & riding expertise here than almost anywhere else on the web, so all/any questions are welcome. This site is still terra-forming itself to be what it will be, by its users, rather than an owner or moderator. The common experience here is..... decent human beings that have a shared passion for life, which is made up of motorcycling (mostly), and other stuff, too. Like coffee, or beer, or racing. See?

Let me clarify my point....

I KNOW the expertise at this site. Dean, Dave (Darth), Dallara, (hmmm...is there a pattern?) all have combined 3000 years experience in/around motorcycling. :p

What I meant, was there a general migration to this board to continue our cameraderie together? IOW, many of us have been members for 2,3 or more years. There's only so much talk of "what's a good seat for the R?, or, 'to use or not to use, the kill switch.' "

Many of us wanted to continue topics above/beyond the R, and were relegated to the off-topic forums and the playhouse, which obviously had inconsistent 'censoring'.

Besides the originiators of this site who plainly made their point of leaving the other site, has everyone else pretty much decided to leave the R site as their main site? I look at other sites, but never developed cameraderie with others like at 1150r.org. If everyone just moves over here, fine. I just hope the group can stay together.

Remember how we all commented over the past few years that 'our' site, our group, was unlike any other forums we all belonged to? I still feel that way.

Now we can have our family and watch porn too! Ahhh, the good life. :D

Scotty,

We don't want porn over here either. The stuff we've seen (posted on this site), falls far short of that. I'd like to think that this site is going to much more like the real world. There's likely to be good and bad that comes with that, but when (and if) the bad shit shows up, I think the response to it will be be intelligent and reasoned.

We'll see.

The fact that R1150R.org is focused only the R1150R is in fact why I supported getting this site in gear. We had such a great community on that site but I felt over the long run it was doomed to irrelevancy as more of us migrate to current bikes & as, like has been said, how many times can we discuss seats.

OTOH, for RR specific mechanical questions, I think R1150R.org will most likely be the best source of info. for as long as it exists, which is of course at an individual's whim.

But that leaves all the rest of motorcycledom for this board, which is shaping up to be a bit more adult / real world, IMHO, and I suspect this board, with group ownership, will have the ability to grow / evolve & thrive into the future. It will be a real kick to see what this board will be like 20 years from now.

Shouldn't that pic should have accompanied Scotty's earlier post:

I can only say what I plan to do...this site is "home" and I will visit other sites...incuding R1150R.net, for model specific info.
Frankly, now that all of us have this wonderful place, I have no problems "there" and will visit as I said.
I will not renew my membership...that is reserved for "here". They are only one of a thousand other resources for me now.
