R1100RS 2000 - bought from Victory BMW in Chandler, AZ -rode it home 1300 miles. On the ride home the bike had a noise which I thought was a cupped tire on the front - latter found out that it was clutch slippage. The bike was covered by warranty for 500 miles -needless to say no warranty before I even got back to Texas. I took the bike to GulfCoast BMW-Triumph in South Houston 6 weeks ago - picked the bike up Tuesday and 15 miles later the clutch was gone again - I called the shop and told them I would be back in the following morning. The bike was also purging oil like my 52 Harley -only this was coming from the bottom of the motor. I have no idea what's going on. Needless to say I am getting a bit frustrated. They did back the $1700 charge to my AMX and were nice enough to give me a ride to the Company Jet (SouthWest). I am back home in McAllen - a bit smarter.

I will pass on the Bonneville trip - just do not have confidence in this bike. I also told them to put it on the floor under consignment. I will probably loose a couple thousand on this one.   Wish for a bird icon.....

Bill -

That sure does suck! Really sorry to hear about your bad luck with the bike. Just out of curiosity, not that it would necessarily bring any relief to the situation, but did you tell talk to the salesperson at Victory BMW about it? Send me a PM with the particulars on the bike and who sold it to you and I would be happy to approach the salesperson directly and see what they have to say - I spend so much money over there they tend to lend me an ear, and I know the sales staff well. Happy to do that for you...

Sounds to me like a transmission shaft seal has blown, allowing oil to foul the clutch disc. It's a labor-intensive operation to replace it. Oh well... here's hoping you have fun shopping for a new bike! :cocktail:
