As I mentioned in a seperate thread, I recently got back from a dog sledding trip to Baffin Island in Canada's Arctic. I thought some of you might enjoy some of the shots I took. Below are some highlights

To see the rest of the album you can go directly to a slide show of the pictures:Slide show (http://jnightingale.myphotoalbum.com/slideshow.php?set_albumName=album03)
if that doesn’t work for you go to:Album (http://jnightingale.myphotoalbum.com/) and click on the Baffin album. Then click on the “start slideshow” button at the upper right hand side.
Cheers,
Justin
p.s. thanks for the smugmug access - my album site won't allow inline posts

MilesAway, Simply.....................Magnificent. Bet the vodka hit the spot in the ol' igloo. :030:
Those were some magnificant pictures Justin. I really like the pics of the dogs. I had a Malamute that lived to be almost 13, a wonderful dog. Thanks for sharing.

Is the most interesting, BEST, motorcycling board or what?!
Congratulations "MilesAway"...like living on a South Sea island, most of us only dream of doing things like this.
Keep up the good work!

Great adventure Justin. That Igloo looks cozy.
Some of the Ice shots look almost transparent.
Love those dogs...
Couldn't eat a whole one though...(Just kidding).
Something to tell the grandkids.

Justin, that was fascinating. How does one get to take a dog sled trek? Nice photos too. Very intriguing.

Thanks guys, glad you like them.
WW: it took me about 5 years of planning to set this up, but most of the "planning" was actually saving up!!! It's not cheap, but for me, the $5K was well worth it for realising a trip that I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I'm actually thinking of going back, but in the summer to do some kayaking around the glaciers/bergs etc. If you're interested, there are a few people who can set this up for you.
Arctic Odysseys at http://www.arcticodysseys.com/index.html is a Seatle based travel agency that specialises in artic trips. This is the agency I used, I was very happy with them
They guy they use for the trip I did is Levi Palituq - really good guy. You can deal direct with him at http://www.palituqoutfitting.ca/index.html
There's another guy, Dave who I didn't use but met while I was out there, likely the one I will deal with for the kayaking trip if it happens at: http://www.polarseaadventures.com/
The tip to cutting the trip cost down a lot is to use points to fly. Airfare is about $2000 of the total cost and the number of points required is quite low. First Air is the airline that serves the north and they take Aeroplan points (Air Canada), they may also take Star Alliance but I don't know for sure. However, there are only two point seats per flight so you have to book WAAY in advance (like a year ahead).
Bob: Not sure I'm ever going to look at that picture in quite the same way. Thanks:104:
