I am nearly ready to order a Sargents seat for "Hoochie Mama!"

There are stories of wintertime frozen arses in the Amarillo, Texas area where we will live post-retirement in a year. I am always alert for ways to extend riding seasons and am a big puss to boot so I am interested in their electrified seat option.
Anyone have any experience with that? It's a $150.00 option, not cheap, but well worth it if it works well.
By the way, their PDF instruction sheet has specific wiring instrutions for late model Beemers with CanBus electrics, at least *implying* the heaters will work on them.

Thanks,

Dave,

I think a heated seat would extend your riding season a bit, but Amarillo should have a longer riding season than we typically have up here. I'd go with Dean's suggestion of heated clothing under wind/rain proof riding gear though. Get the heat to your core and have it enclosed around you. Dean is a fan of Gerbings and others have plumped for Widder. Gerbing has a heated, sleeved underjacket that has a heated collar. They also have heated pants and the two pieces connect with an SAE plug. Their heated gloves can also be integrated into the system. Just a little bit spendy. But you prolly know all about this anyway.

Betcha cant guess who is going to be looking to buy some for under the 'Stich for next fall and winter????? And maybe those mid-April rides to nowhere....

My Gerbing Jacket Liner, Gloves and Heat troller ( thermostat) are with me whenever I travel, especially out here in the west. It is not uncommon for morning temps to be in the 30's and 40's F and the afternoon temps to be 95 F. A Mesh Tex jacket, a Goretex liner that will slip over the Gerbings are all you need. Good for temps from 40 F and up to include rain. The layers easily pack in either the tank bag or a tail bag.

It works for me...................

I forgot to add, I have fused leads wired directly to the battery on both the KLR and ST. I often use the Gerbings on the KLR up here in the mountains. The fused leads also provide for connecting a Battery Tender Jr. to the bikes when not riding. The battery on my R1150R is still as strong as new after 5 years because, when not riding....on the Jr.

I have learned a few things after 50 years of Motorcycling.............I think........

Well, Dave...

They say that your body needs to flow lots of nice, warm blood to your brain in cold weather, and for you and I, considering where our brains are...

A heated seat might be just the ticket! :037:

Cheers!

Hey Allan...don't help!:003:
Ron & Dean-O...that makes perfect sense and a much better place to spend another bill & a half to extend the season!
I have a Widder vest (used them for years) and may have to grow my "ensemble".
I have to admit though, heated grips and a heated saddle do appeal.
I can see it now...Dallara comes to the canyon for a visit. It's cold so we turn on the heated saddles and get busted for stunting since we're standing on our heads keeping our brains warm.
Oh, wait a minute...that's not what he meant! How rude!

Dave,

I read somewhere recently that 40 degrees at 70mph is 24 degrees with the windchill. I can attest to the fact that heated grips don't do squat over 60 mph and mine have always been toasty, toasty, toasty on the commute. Maybe handguards would help some, but I have my doubts. You're not planning to slow down to 60 are you????

"...You're not planning to slow down to 60 are you????"

Uh...no.
