I've met On Any Sunday "star" Mert Lawill a few times over the years at various events and he's as modest in person as he appears to be in the movie. About 6 years ago he was selling off some of his bike memorablia on eBay. I happened to be looking one day and picked up the On Any Sunday movie poster he was given on the night of the OAS premier. Mert autographed it for me and threw in some additional signed pictures and such just because. The poster is suitably framed and hangs in my living room now. :)

Another "On Any Sunday" story here (http://40on2.blogspot.com/2005/12/instamatic-memories.html) in my blog.

Nice Mert story Doug, I never met Mr. Lawwill but I watched him race lots of times. And I would really like to have one of his primo street trackers! Can you get me a deal?

I like your blog and I will spend some time there...this would be a good alternative to the simple "1 story on 2 pages" book format I described on here the other day in my thread "Open Letter to Wild Will" in the Non-Motorcycle section.

The important thing is that we do capture our stories...fine job!

Glad you enjoyed the blog, Dave. I save all my blog entries to my local computer too. When I get a minute I'm going to print them all out and put them in a binder. It's not that I think I'm such a great writer, I just think that recording my little bit of history might be interesting to my descendants the same way I enjoy reading about my forebearer's lives. Writing the blog and having others occasionally read the thing keeps me writing and sometimes helps bring some focus or motivation to my motorcycle rides. The things we do, while perhaps not extraordinary in some great historical sense, will never be exactly repeated and may turn out to look pretty unique someday when the internal combustion engine is only a museum piece. Write your stories down, guys. Your kids may not appreciate them but your great-great grandkids will think you were quite a character! :024:

Can't help you with a price on the streettracker, Dave, or I'd have one myself!
