I found one of my knock-off Napoleon bar end mirrors and called my friend to whom I had leant the other. While on the phone he mentioned that he had some CRG mirrors that he wasn't using. 20 minutes later I was back home and playing around.

The stock bars have a threaded insert that made easy fitment impossible (I'll have to hit the insert with and easy out if I want to use these). So on went the CRGs.

That's a great looking motorcycle JP, I like the mirrors, look good, work good. I've become rather enamored with the Triumph Triple.

Looks great in black. Here we only get (or got - I haven't checked recently) the "R" in a flat grey or flat orange. Both look nicer than they sound, but your black with gold wheels looks better!

Ever since seeing my first John Player Special I've nursed a semi for black with gold pinstripes.

GREAT lookin' bike!

.....a very handsome steed! I have a soft spot for black/gold. The Bar-ends are a nice look.

I came to this one in quite a round about way. I had admired the Street Triples at the BMW/Triumph dealer and had a strong preference for the matte gray.

When shopping I was pretty set on a Monster 696 or BMW F800R. While browsing, two of my friends took this black and gold bike out for a test ride. I really fell in love with the black and gold colorway after seeing it in motion. I was still not interested in the Street.

A few weeks later I took a test ride on this bike and it didn't really grab me. As this was there demo, he sent me home on it for the weekend (Saturday to Tuesday) saying that I had to get 250 miles on it so it hit the milage required to receive their demo credit. After twenty miles or so I understood why I wasn't wowed on the test ride and why this was the bike for me. It didn't do anything weird. It didn't shake like a Buell, it didn't fold me up like a Duc. It just got out of the way and let me ride.

JP, congratulations on your fine new bike, she's a real beauty! I'd love to ride her. As you've seen already, the triples just love a touch o' the whip...that's where they really shine. The gold wheels are just great, so much better than my 1050 Speedy's black ones.
Have fun Bro!

The CRG mirrors really complete the look of this bike...most bikes really. One good thing about the genuine CRGs, after you get past the initial cost, is the great guarantee (you won't need it) and replacement parts availability should you need them.

Here's my '06 Speed Triple, already modified but with the original Micky Mouse ears mirrors...yuck!

And with the CRGs...yahoo!

The CRGs are now on the little Kawasaki ER-6 hotrod I'm building.
Here's the original alien ears mirrors...pukarooni!

With the CRGs...yesss!

I sure love seeing pics and updates on Ernie!

I sometimes wonder if I should have gone that route (since the dealers are giving the ER-6n away) and used the extra cash for mods. The other side to that is that I got a killer deal on the Striple and have only changed the mirrors in 8 months of ownership.

Justin, you did the right thing.
Go for it, enjoy that Triumph triple experience, ride the wheels off it, learn from it, stretch your personal envelope and have a butt-load fun!
There is always later to enjoy the unique pleasures of a cheaper, slower motorcycle in an ocean of more expensive & "faster" ones. When you get there we'll have a thread about outrunning faster bikes on slower ones...it is so much fun! :ricky:

I've got to learn to be fast first!

My long term plan includes some track days, that should help.

she's a real beauty! I'd love to ride her.

Just bring Ernie along so we can swap for a bit!

Now then, that sounds like a fun day! (For what it's worth - I'd rather have the Triple too).

Justin, if you haven't already consider the MSF Experienced Rider Course (ERC).
It won't make you any faster but it will allow you to become faster...and it will save your life!
A day spent swapping Striple R and Ernie on the right roads would be a blast! Ernie couldn't hang with a well ridden 675 but he wouldn't be far behind either!
What do the mags say about the Striple R's top end?

Forum posts and YouTube look to be about 140. I've had her up to around 125.
