Mailbox full

My mailbox was full, so I deleted the messages. It now says they are stored, and asks if I want to empty the folder. I enter yes, but it keeps storing the messages. What do I do to delete?

Don...in your case.....all of your messages are part of the permanent record......as we were instructed to keep all of your correspondence, don't know why.....but the directive came directly from Obama.....As you are aware of.....We do as we are told.
