Decided to ride some of the dirt roads around Alpine, Az. and my favorite Sunday stop, the Bear Wallow. An absolutely beautiful day for a ride. Up here, the Gerbing Jacket Liner and heated gloves are always a good idea, with the Gerbing thermostat, you can add heat from nothing to a lot.

Alpine pass just before Alpine.

The Bear Wallow at the top of Hwy 180 comming from Demming and Silver City New Mexico and on Az. 191 or old Hwy 666, the Devils Hwy. Alpine, Az. elevation 8050 Ft.

The beginning of the Blue River Valley Road where Wolves have been released and encouraged to repopulate...much to the consternation of the local ranchers.

This road goes for 25 miles down to the Blue River.

The entire area is breathtakingly beautiful.

One of the many water crossings.

Another road out of the Blue River, the Red Hill Road, I think it is called

Nearing the top before connecting to the Devils Hwy for a spirited ride back to Alpine and then on to home.Elevations on the dirt roads ranged from about 5,000 ft. to appx. 9,000 ft. It was cold at the top.

A great 225 mile day, I think the KLR is a keeper.

What a neat day, neat trip, neat roads, and a neat bike, Dean!

Outstanding pics, and it looks like FUN!

Thanks!

Allan (Dallara - NACD)

WARNING: Please note that Dean's Kawasaki KLR is NOT equipped with ABS, and is therefore obviously more dangerous to ride than an ABS-equipped KLR (if they ever make them), and this has been determined by an NHTSA study having to do with automobiles driven by soccer moms and stockbrokers. Dean's experience and high skill level have absolutely no determination on whether he can control wheel lock-up or not. Only ABS systems should be allowed to do that.

Dean-O. You are making me homesick, and I just got here to DC! The KLR looks great - I like the tank bag setup.

I rode the adventure on a dirt and gravel trail for a mile in West Virginia on Friday to get to the farm I was spending the night at. That heavy bike, with Jesse's and gear, makes me nervous on the dirt - I just hate the idea of having to pick it up if it were to fall over - I don't think I could!

Take care and ride safe.

Wow. Makes me want one BAD. How would it handle big loads? Loads that would be 2-up for most people. I am about 325, and 6'4", and am worried a bit about a 650, though my girlfriends CS is a lot of fun.
