One of my neighbors is a Sargent with the Arizona DPS, that's the Highway Patrol. He corners me today and says Hey, I clocked a BMW at 141 last week on the Sun Valley Parkway. The Sun Valley Parkway is way out west of Phoenix, runs from Surprise( yes that's the name of the town) to I-10. There ain't a thing on it for 38 miles, great road, no cross streets and straight as an arrow. I've used it for years to go fast. I digress sorry.
Anyway, I automaticaly blurt out" it wasn'nt me" he got a laugh, and said it was blue and white and had the BMW badge, and was quite sporty looking. His words exacly.
So I ask him, did you haul them off to jail? He told me no, he was in an unmarked car heading along the parkway at about 90 heading to a fatal accident on the 60, when his radar went nuts. The bike went by, the radar showed 141. He said he looked in the rearview and the bike was gone. He told me he thought, hope you make it.
Now understand, Its just my guess its a K1200S, I know the K RS had some white and blue color schemes, but the S in my opinion is more sporty looking. We talked a while and he looked over my bike and asked if it was fast and I told him I don't know, he told me he knew I was lying:) .
He's a good guy, and he also told me the DPS motor folks love their BMW's.
So the moral of the story is, somewhere here in the Phoenix metro area is the luckiest sum bitch on the face of the planet. Big fines and possible jail avoided.
Is it someone here?

Possibly, but fat chance he's going to fess up in a public forum like this... :icon_mrgreen:

I went 155 on my Y2k 'busa going to Payson once. Someday I will own a K-bike and I will see +150 again. For now I'll stick to 100 on the 202.

My ST has been clocked at speeds from 144 to 148, depending entirely on the newness and make of the rear tire as it easily hits the revlimiter in 6th, never a ticket though.

At Bonneville we clocked a K1200S at 169, two up and 178 or 9 in one direction with a tall tire.

I have 149 on the Speedy's "tell-tale" from last week's Hill Country ride. That was down on the paint but not "under" the paint, and with both hands on the grips, next time the left hand will be gripping the left upper fork leg. It all helps!
Nothing to get excited about as that is just "indicated" not real MPH, but that was well short of redline in 5th where I ran out of road and had to shut off. With stock tall gearing (to help it pass sound emissions testing) this bike is faster in 5th than 6th, just like my Ducati was. Adding 2 teeth on the rear sprocket should take care of that.
Oh, and get this Mr. Fast Beemer Dean-O...before the Hill Country ride I installed Triumph's "off-road" cannisters and had the dealer re-flash the ECU. I thought the new map felt pretty "fat"...a little hard to start when cold, not real "clean" feeling, didn't pull very hard, very sooty pipes, etc.
They downloaded the wrong map! I'll get the correct one soon and look forward to a rematch with that Flying Hoon on the red R1200ST!
If the Speedy does an honest 150-155 I'll be real happy. Don't NEED to go that fast ever. CAN'T go that fast very many places. And it does get a bit DIFFICULT to hang onto a butt-nekkid bike around 150.
We'll see...

Dave, that was sure fun like two aircraft flying in formation.

Your bike should be even more intresting with the new map.

I'm more and more fascinated by the great engine harmonics produced while "flying in formation".
My favorite was 4 Ducati 900SS's with open cans in tight formation at 140 MPH for about 5 miles...un-freakin-believable!
Second favorite was 2 850 Nortons side by side at 80 MPH...sounded just like a B-17 in an old WWII movie. Goose bumps all the way!

"I'm more and more fascinated by the great engine harmonics produced while "flying in formation"."

Well, that depends on a lot of things. A co-worker of mine has an H-D with the standard issue straight through pipes and I can't hear myself think, let alone hear any nice back and forth between his motor and mine when he's within, oh say, um, twenty feet of the R. His 1200cc are, of course, bigger'n mine...
