View Full Version : right turn on red != green light

I see more and more poeple treating the right turn on red as a green light and it's getting to the point that I'd rather just have no right turn on red. I continually have people pull out in front of me when I've already entered the intersection. The other day I pulled up to the person at the next light and asked "WTF?". She said, "you had enough room to slow down"

:omg:

today, I was in the right lane on my way back to work and had a lady in an SUV jump out in front of me. The left lane was open so I transitioned there and gave it some gas since I needed to get around her and back into the right lane so I could make a right turn in 2 lights. Not only did she not bother accelerating into the traffic flow, she taps the brakes and almost hits me as she cuts across the left lane so that she can make the left turn lane 1/4 block from the road she just turned off of. If I hadn't been riding the bike, I may not have been able to avoid her.

Seriously, are there that many completely-futting-retarded drivers out there? The one upside is that I did get the chance to lay on my newly installed airhorn (http://www.adventurersworkshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=STEBEL_COMPACT_AIRHORN&Category_Code=Stebel_Air_Horns) Her startled expression seemed to say, "what did I do?"...

YES!

This is when the headlight modulator really helps - but I'll be rolling in my grave before a modulator is on one of my bikes.

I've got a modulator and piaa's mounted off the exhaust bolts. I don't think it was a case of not being seen, it was a case of her thinking "right of way" was just a suggestion.

Down under it's left turns (not right) and it's against the law...it's just like going through a red light.

In Hawaii I saw people turning on a red light for the first time..it seems like a good idea if it's all clear.

I'd be pissed off if we could do it and someone in front me just sat there.

Anyone seen 'Dust to Glory' and the bumping from behind..:081:

Right on Red is allowed in Ontario. As I recall, it is not allowed in New York State. I suspect that I would end up in big trouble with Johnny Law trying to lose my Ontario habits in their restrictive jurisdictions! *grin*

Biggest problem is people who think they can roll through a red or stick their nose so far out in order to check if they can go, they obstruct traffic. Personally, I would not be too upset if the law makers banned rights on red.

Yeah, seems like many drivers leave their brains at home.

It is at times like these that we wish we had the yet to be invented device that works like this:

You have a microphone in your helmet. You push a thumb activated button on your handle bar and it instantly turns on the offending car radio, tuned to the station broadcast from your microphone and automatically turns up the volume to LOUD. You then yell whatever you like, as loudly as you like. It then turns off and all returns to normal.

It won't make anything safer, but that moment of satisfaction would be nice.

And yes, Optimus, there are more and more morons on the road. Most of them are in cars. Only some of them are on motorcycles.
