Don't know where to find one of those, Ken...
But I do know this is what I use:
http://209.61.235.222/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/1250110.jpg
And it fits like it is made for the R-1150-R because it IS specifically made for the R-1150-R... :037:
It is made by Wunderlich in Germany. Here's another couple of pics:
http://209.61.235.222/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/1250110c.jpg

There is a part that mounts easily to the passenger seat, and then the bag itself zips on, or off, in seconds. It is expandable, and it works so well it is literally on my R all the time unless I am carrying a passenger.
Here you can see it on my own bike:

If you're interested in one you can purchase them here:

Hope this helps!

Ken..here's my thoughts on the seat bag thing.
First don't rule out tank bags...that's what mine is and it fits perfectly on the seat (flaps folded under)..and I use strong velcro straps to hold it on.
That little seat bag that you've shown is nice..for a few tools..or a sandwich.
But it wouldn't be big enough for me...I need to be able to carry things like...
Wet weather gear...or a warm jacket or jumper...or a loaf of bread (every day I go up to the local bread shop)
Mine can also expand to fit a full face helmet inside (another great feature)
Here's a pic of mine that I took yesterday..yes it's Autumn in Melbourne.

Allan,
I like that bag. It's nice that it's compact and can expand. As I have 2 rear seats I could attach it to one. I think it looks better than the other for an R.
Does it have a gold liner? WOW:icon_eek:
I heard Wunderlich was expensive, now I know. Oh well, guess you have to pay to play.

Well, Ken...
It's not lined with gold, but it is worth every penney. I paid a bit less than that for mine over two years ago. Another BMW shop sold 'em over the 'net, though I can't recall the name... I do recall the guy I bought it from that worked there, however. His name was Corey, and he was later killed in a motorcycle accident. He owned an absolutely gorgeously customized R-1100-S... That shop sold 'em for somewhat less than BMW Santa Cruz, but now BMW Santa Cruz is the sole distributor and outlet for Wunderlich in the USA, so you are stuck with paying their price now I guess.
Still, I would buy one again today, and only wish they made one for my Yamaha FJR. I also have two passenger seats - the stock OEM one and a Sargent - the Wunderlich *lives* on the stock OEM rear seat. If I want to haul a passenger I simply pop on the Sargent and the Pirate's Lair backrest an away we go... The rest of the time the stock seat and Wunderlich stay on the bike. It zips off in seconds if I want to make sure it isn't swiped, but I also have a couple of those little combination luggage locks I keep in the Wunderlich, and if I am going in someplace and want ot leave it on I just use one of the locks to lock the bag to the bike and the other to lock the zipper pulls together that access the contents... Haven't lost a thing yet.
The material the bag is constructed from is different from any other I have ever encountered on motorcycle luggage. It's really tough, and reasonably waterproof. The bag comes with a rain cover, but I've never had to use it. After a couple of hours riding in the rain some of the contents get damp, but never soaked. The way the bag expands is ingenious, and it does so in seconds, and retracts just as easily. The bag has a neat handle on the front to carry it by, and it also comes with kind of an odd strap that allows it to be worn as a backpack (there is a little "D" ring at the tail end of the bag, and this strap uses that and the front handle rings).
Honestly, I can't endorse the bag enough. It has worked flawlessly for over two years, in all sorts of weather, and it has never sun-faded or otherwise deteriorated in any way. It still looks as new as the day I took it out of the box. The zippers are tough and still work flawlessly, and it has always carried anything I put in it securely. I keep a disc lock, some Novus shield cleaner, cotton and microfiber towels for shield cleaning, a note pad, pen, old digital camera, some spare earplugs, a little flashlight, etc. in it all the time, but when it's really handy is when you stop somewhere and are suddenly faced with having to carry something home... Then you just zip and expand it and away you go.
You could do worse than one of these Wunderlich's, but if you want to save some money you might look into the Chicane brand "Summit" tail bag at Bob's BMW:

It's less expensive, and it's probably what will end up on my Yamaha...
Hope this helps!

Ken -
You asked about the small "storage pod" in your original post.
I have one for my 50R and like it a lot. It is perfect for commuting or a day ride. It will comfortably hold a glasses case, cellphone, camera, smokes, wallet, maps, a folded windstopper jersey, 30 or 40 condoms, a can of beer and a Penthouse magazine. And probably more if you pack carefully. Obviously it is not intended to be a "touring bag".
I'd say the pod shell is waterproof and the zipper is water-resistant.
It is a "semi-hardshell" design and the styling, attachment system and fit are absolutely *perfect* for the 50R on either the standard or "Comfort" pillion seat. It will easily fit other bikes too with a similar type rear seat. It has compartments and a removable partition for added space, or more room for a bulky item like a sweatshirt.
They are made by National Cycle/ZTechnik (same company) and the quality is tops. They are a little pricey at ~$120. Any dealer who carries National Cycle windshields, or any BMW dealer who carries ZTeknik exhausts & accessories can get them for you.

I also have the Wunderlich expandable rear seat bag too. I agree with all Allan says about them...top quality and another item that looks like it was designed for the 50R.
Which one is "best"? Neither. Both.
Depends on how much you need to carry and if styling is important to you.
I use the Wunderlich for anything overnight or longer, I use the Pod for commuting & day trips, and get lots of compliments on it's looks.
Something I appreciate about both is that the very secure attachment systems do NOT touch the paintwork on either. The Wunderlich zips on & off and leaves the attachment base in place. The Pod quickly detaches completely.
You can't go wrong with either, depending on intended usage...get both if you can, they're cool!

Hey Ken... another vote for the Wunderlich.
Got mine a few weeks ago from Santa Cruz BMW, and am very pleased with it. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes!

Bagster also makes a seatbag similar to what had been shown.
I've been thinking about getting one of these things for my Rockster but since I mounted the System Case frame and bought the System Cases (used, thank goodness) and the soft tail bag, I use the tail bag for regular city runs and leave the System Cases for touring.

"...Hey Dave...have you been making dresses???..."
Well, it's just a sideline for now but I'm thinking of going full time with it.
It's just *so* much fun...Oh!
This little frock is the "Gay Mole" model and Bob was my first customer.
That's not him in the photo!
DJ, you little cutie, would you like one?

Guys,
Thanks for all the help. I'm going to go with the Wunderlich bag, (with gold lining).

Wunderlich makes nice bags, yes. BUT, they fade in the sunlight very quickly. Both myself and our friend Pat learned this with their luggage rack bags. Mine is now a faded black/purple color. It is very handy though, I still use it often, almost every ride.
