...took all of a half hour. Totally routine oil change and laundry list of checks I do on a near daily basis. The only difference is that I bought my oil from Advance Auto and got Castrol full synthetic 20w50 instead of the Silkolene I'd been running. I have about 2K on it, and it feels like the old boy is liking this stuff well enough. It costs less than the Fuchs and is easier to find. A good thing, since the lad consumes a bit here and there.

Swapped out the Dunlop Q2s I was running and went back to Michelin Pilot Road 2s. Re-shod in his favorite sneakers, the lad is back to himself and I am much more confident. The Q2s are awesome in warm, dry conditions but the PR2s give me good feeling in a much broader spectrum of conditions. I'm unlikely to switch again.

Last time I checked, Hobbes had the distinction of being the highest mileage 1050 engine out of Martin Motorsports. If true, it's a sad testament to the level of riding going on since the poor boy sat out most of the winter due to snow. In any case, all appears to be well!

I've got the same Castrol 20/50 in Sapphire now, the V-twin oil right?...Autozone had it on sale for 4.99 a quart. I bought 20 Qts...so it will cost me less than half of what I was paying for Amsoil per oil change and will hold me for 6 or 7 months. Keep up the good work and you really need to move South, at 42,000 you haven't even wore the new off the motor yet.

Believe me Roger, after the last two winters we're both thinking about more temperate climes! Once Lori is out of school, we'll be making some assessments when we see what her prospects for employment are versus how things are going at the stained glass shop. So many possibilities...

Well J, you know you and Lori have a place to run to if the winters get a bit to hard and you need a break.

Wintering in Phoenix sounds delightful! Much more pleasant than passing a week in July!
