I don't know. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between assholes and idiots. I'm leaning more toward idiot, especially if he's sincere with the mea culpa bit. I'm not sure a true dyed-in-the-wool asshole would do that. Of course it remains to be seen if he'll follow through.
