Early pace setters are both favourites of mine. Bruce Ansty, a lovely, relaxed, smiley bloke who's fearsomely fast is riding for Padgetts this year while my hero Guy Martin has the TAS Suzuki that gave Bruce fits last year..

Surely Guy will win one this year? Go Guy!!

I hope we get some good coverage over here on TV this year. I think last year the networks skipped the TT and gave us Celebrity NASCAR Poker Cake Bakers or some such crap.

Hi Simon,
I must be a bit of a dummy.....
Can you direct me to the section of the website that shows the list of riders, and their backgrounds?

I recognise some of the names in the results section but have not a clue where that are from or their profile....

Can you help a poor old sailor?

Cheers,

JQ.

JQ, the official TT website is here: http://www.iomtt.com/ the info you want should be here: http://www.iomtt.com/news/FullStory.asp?StoryID=814

I know most of the bigger names (by reputation, not personally!) so if I can help I will. Just ask.

BTW, your "local" interest will be Cameron Donald who comes from Melbourne. Oh, and one of my favourites, Bruce Ansty from New Zealand. Donald is bloody fast, but maybe a trifle inexperienced for the speeds he's doing. I worry for him.
Truthfully, I worry for all of the guys. The dangers cannot be overstated. It's not a place to get it wrong, or have a mechanical problem. This was Connor Cummins last year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEptl9kRMO0

He's worked really hard to get fit enough to race again and will take his place on the grid on Saturday.

Sadly, not every crash has a happy ending. This week we have already lost sidecar driver Bill Currie and his passenger Kevin Morgan. Terrible.

Over here you can get a free "App" for your i-phone that lets you listen to Manx Radio, every race - live! Back that up with decent TV cover - 3 hours last night, at least an hour every single night - and race fans are well catered for.

Cheers,
Si.

Well, shat! I didn't take time to read it through carefully (obviously!). When I used their search function that was all that came up. :086:

This maybe old news if so i appologise in advance Ian Hutchinson last years five times winner will not be there to defend his titles, unknown to me anyway he was involved in a multiple crash in the wet at Silverstone, the result both bones below the knee broken smashed might be a better discription.

Surgeons wanted to amputate but thankfully Hutchinson refused several operations an external cage to hold the bones in place a couple of skin grafts later he seems to be on the mend he'll be back next year for sure.

Pre-race I predicted the top three as: Ansty, McGuiness, Martin. I still think I was right and that remains my prediction for the Senior race on Friday. In the event though both Ansty and Martin broke down. Ansty from the lead and Martin from second place (the TT is harder on machinery than any place on earth, exactly as it was designed to be back in 1907!).

It's 100 years since they moved the races to the current 37.75 mountain course. That first race was won by an Indian, by the way, and there are lots of centenery clebrations this year. Nice.

Guys, we've enjoyed a fabulous weeks racing. And the TV company concerned - ITV4 - have done a bang up job. The best coverage ever. Now, I have the last four races on DVD (it would have been all of them, but for a faulty disc) that's four hours.
I can try and copy it for anyone interested. Or if anyone knows thay can copy it, I can send the master disc to them and they can send out copies to any/all interested parties..
